The most common problem I used to get from people wanting puppies was that both partners worked and so the pup would be left on its own a lot. This is a recipe for disaster as Labradors need lots of people contact, and especially when they are young so that they are trained to become well behaved dogs. So if you are not at a stage in your life where you will be at home with the dog most of the time, and can walk it for at least 1 hour each day, then any dog, but most especially a Labrador will be a big mistake. If you are in this situation, I highly recommend getting 2 cats instead as they are much more independent and happy to be on their own for 8 hours during the day. The converse is true of dogs; dependant, unhappy if left for long periods. If this is your lifestyle, then it will lead to "bad" behaviour due to boredom - digging up plants, chewing washing, getting out, barking - this is not a bad dog, just an unthinking owner.
